Can you tell us a bit about yourself? How did you get into singing — and into Second Life?
RockRose started actually long before we were even dreaming about it. Yves started with a real life band in 1990 called ‘Karrad’. The drummer however died in a car crash in 1999 and they all went seperate ways. In 2000 he joined ‘Grensgeval’ with a friend. Although performing in real life they had the idea of going online as well. In about 2012 they made their entrance in Second Life. First with the whole band, but this seemed pretty fast not doable to get all 5 together every other night. They decided to record the backing tracks so they only needed the singing part for their online performances. A major issue however arose. Nobody could pronounce the name ‘Grensgeval’ (don’t even try it). After a short brain storm, if any brain available, the name RockRose popped up. Great people were found on SL to complete the live shows on SL. Thank you Delinda, Atrus, Gunnie, Bono, Missy, Mette, Stellie. After almost 7 years they split up due to real life and other reasons and disappeared from the SL live stage for over 8 years. Now in 2025 they’re back in a new line-up. Yves, Lacie, Augy, Noxy and Mira will set the stage again on fire with old and new material. Get ready cause ROCKROSE IS BACK !!
From your song list, which song is your personal favorite, and why does it mean so much to you?
Every original song of ours is like our baby. We created it. So it’s hard to pick one.
If we have to pick one it’s “No more blood”. It’s about fighting all the injustice in the world.
What do you love most about performing in Second Life? What does it bring you as an artist or person?
We can reach people all over the world with our music. It brings people together without prejudice of race, religionor gender.
Why did you choose to perform at *CharitySL.nl in Action for KiKa* (the Dutch Children Cancer-Free Foundation)?
It’s a very good cause. Those children already suffer enough. Bringing a little joy in their hearts with our music is the least we can do.
In your opinion, why should everyone visit CharitySL.nl 2025 and be part of this event?
If you have a heart inside your avatar or better your real live body you support these kids.
Music connects people in a unique way — how would you describe the power of music when it’s used to help others or support a cause like KiKa?
Music unites, it brings emotions, takes you back to certain moments in your life, good or bad. It helps you deal with it.
